Become the person you needed as a teen.

Mentors have the responsibility of supporting and mentoring students through our program, Living Louder™. This rewarding volunteer role provides young adults with the opportunity to become the person they needed as a teenager. The primary job of a mentor is not to fix anyone, but to ensure that the students we serve at FOREVERU feel encouraged, valued, and supported throughout their journey of self-discovery.

Mentors are matched up with a trained instuctor and assigned a group of students enrolled in the Living Louder™ program. Mentors are then responsible for assisting the trained instructor at weekly discovery sessions that help students comprehend and apply a wide variety of practical life skills and mental tools for establishing a "storymap" for their ideal life path. Mentors serve as a students' guide for the entire program.

Once a prospective mentor submits their application, we will review the application, contact the provided references, and complete a thorough background check. The background check we conduct includes a Department of Justice sex offender search, a national criminal search, a current county of residence search, and a terrorist watchlist search.

If we believe an applicant is a good fit for our program, they will be invited to schedule an interview with our team. If selected as a mentor, the applicant must then complete our certification program, facilitated and overseen by mental health professionals affiliated with our organization.

The certification program mentors must complete integrates training on our program policies and procedures, mental health first aid, crisis intervention, implicit bias, diversity and inclusion, addressing sensitive topics, and effectively serving as a role model for our students.
